A Kwanzaa Celebration – Ujima Brothers and Sisters

This year we celebrate Ujima at Heritage Tea House & Cafe’

Join us at the Tea House for a night of African American traditions and a holiday as we celebrate and honor the traditions of Kwanzaa.

Kwanzaa is a holiday tradition that is based on the “first harvest” celebrations in Africa. During the seven days of Kwanzaa, we gather as a people to celebrate and acknowledge the creator, thanking him for his blessings; and honor our ancestors, and elders a commemoration of the past, a re-commitment to African cultural thought and a time to celebrate community.

On Friday, December 28th we will celebrate Ujima

Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility): Means to build and maintain a community and make our brother’s and sister’s problems our own and solve them together.

On this day, we will discuss mental health in our community and how it impacts us all as brothers and sisters. Join us as we celebrate, discuss, and engage in loving one another not just for a day, but for a lifetime…
