Immigration, Community, and Archives on St. Paul’s East Side

Join the Norwegian-American Historical Association and the East Side Freedom Library on St. Paul’s East Side. Historian Peter Rachleff will lead a 90-minute (1.5 mile) walking tour from Swede Hollow along Payne Avenue. While we walk, we will explore the history of the East Side’s 19th-century immigrants as well as the neighborhood’s 20th- and 21st-century residents. Upon returning to the library we will enjoy tastes from the area’s ethnic restaurants and continue our discussion of immigrant communities and the archives that serve them.
