Indigenous Food Tasting 2019

The Third Annual Indigenous Food Tasting, hosted in partnership with the Indigenous Food Network (IFN), is an event rooted in community, bringing Indigenous chefs and community together for an evening of tasting our indigenous foods. Join us on Indigenous People’s Day, Monday, October 14th from 5-7PM at the Minneapolis American Indian Center. FREE and open to the public.
You’ll enjoy a feast prepared by The Sioux Chef team, Elena Terry of Wild Bearies Catering, Native Food Perspectives (Christina White), DWH Youth Leaders and Gatherings Cafe, Austin Bartold of Austin’s Catering, and Howasta Means of Spirit Dish Catering!
The event will be emceed by Missy Whiteman and the prayer will be led by our Cultural Director Ernie Whiteman.
Special guest Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan is going to attend and give remarks at 6pm.

The Seed Saving table will be led by DWH Seedkeeper & Seed Regeneration Manager, Jessika Greendeer and Seed Apprentice, Lucas Humblet. The Wild Foods table will be led by DWH Community Outreach and Cultural Teacher, Hope Flanagan. The information booths from our Indigenous Food Network partners include Native American Community Clinic, Division of Indian Work and University of Minnesota SNAP Education.
Join author Thomas Peacock, artists Marlena Myles Art & Design and Jordan Rodgers, and Allison Waukau and Becky Wolf from Hennepin County Library at the Sharing Stories Space.
