Issam Rafea and Gao Hong Duo Concert

Internationally renowned musicians Gao Hong (on the pipa) and Issam Rafea (on the oud) will give a concert at Macalester College featuring traditional, composed, and improved music from the Chinese and Arab/Syrian traditions. Their latest album, Life as is (2018), explores “the blending of ancient souls from Syria and China” and has received acclaim from all around the world. The duo will be joined by students in the Macalester Asian Music Ensemble. There will be a pre-concert talk from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m.
