Nordic Table – Savory Sweet: Tasting and Talk

Beth Dooley and Mette Nielsen, co-authors of the book “Savory Sweet: Simple Preserves from a Northern Kitchen,” will share food samples, insights, stories and tips on preserving the fresh flavors of our local bounty – the Nordic way. Dooley also writes for the Star Tribune and appears on MPR News and KARE 11. Neilsen, is a master gardener whose photographs grace the pages of many publications.

Just as in the Scandinavian countries, Minnesota and Midwestern seasons are challenging and short. The authors’ simple approach to food combines the bright, bold flavors of Nordic cuisines with an emphasis on the local and practical. Along with a sampling of quick, brilliant condiments from the book, they will share ideas for enjoying food and preserves throughout the year in ways to spark everyday meals and for casual, elegant entertaining.
