Noura Post-Play Discussion with Sally Othman

February 15, 2020 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Responding to the Iraqi and Iraqi American identities of the characters, the Guthrie is partnering with the Iraqi and American Reconciliation Project, a local nonprofit that brings together Iraqis and Americans to learn from each other in friendship.

Guthrie Director of Community Engagement Rebecca Noon will be in conversation with IARP member Sally Othman. Othman was born and educated in Baghdad, and attended Al-Nahrain-Saddam-University/College of Medicine. Following graduation in 2011, she rejoined her family in Syria where they had lived since 2008. While in Syria, Othman worked as a health counselor with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)/ health unit and completed electives with Damascus Hospital. In 2014, she and her family moved to Minnesota where she finished her U.S. medical license exam (USMLE) and became certified. She has conducted research at the VA Medical Center and HealthPartners Neuroscience Center and is currently studying to earn her Masters of Public Health from Baylor University and work as a medical interpreter.
