Mumin debuts his new exhibition which combines photographs and recorded soundscapes in a sensory approach that conveys the rich history of Minneapolis’ West Bank. This Cedar-Riverside neighborhood was once part of “Mni Sota Makoce,” the homeland of the Dakota people and it has been a home to many newcomers to America including Nordic and more recently Somali immigrants. Drawing on the archives at the American Swedish Institute and Hennepin County Library and his continued artistic exploration, he unearths a deeper sense of Cedar-Riverside.
